Hi everyone! I hope you had a good week last week! I’m not sure what my deal was, but the winter blues really kicked in. I did my spring cleaning, and finished painting the living room- but couldn’t seem to blog about it! But I will be sharing some house-related updates this week :)
So it’s a little mortifying at this point, I have had these photos sitting on my hard drive for about 8 months now. Yikes! I figured I would take the opportunity today to bring some green back into our lives, since it is St.Patrick’s Day! Also, I could use the booster- it is ridiculously cold for March. :(
This event was my Aunt Christina’s bridal shower, hosted by my mother and I last June (you can read details about her DIY wedding here!). We were loving all of the succulents we were seeing everywhere, so that was a major source of inspiration for the stationary and favors (which I forgot to get a photo of!), along with flowers and greenery in general. We also knew we wanted to host the event in the evening, so that we could have pretty lanterns around and sit out on my Mom’s screened-in porch to open gifts and play games.
It was a small event, just close family members. One thing you will probably never see on this blog- photos of my extended family. They are an elusive bunch, with hands flying up to cover faces whenever there’s a camera in sight. :)
These awesome filigree cake pops were created by Barb from 5 Star Sweets here in Hopkinton, MA- so if you are local, you should definitely check out her work! Her desserts are AMAZING! I first tried her cake pops at a fundraiser for our local library last year, and I knew I would be calling her up for an event! I find cake pops to be very challenging to make pretty, but she makes them look so beautiful.
Some of the pretty gifts!
My Mom ordered these strawberries from Shari’s Berries. We were a little unsure about ordering them off of the internet, but we needn’t have worried. They were incredible… They got rave reviews! It was impossible to have just one, but we reasoned that they must be healthy, since they are strawberries… right? ;)
These gourmet cookies were from Lark Fine Foods, which is another Massachusetts company. They have some fun and interesting combinations- but I particularly love the Coco Locos (Coconut Shortbread) and the Polenta Pennies (Lemon Raisin).
My talented cousin Jenica made the beautiful cake. She doesn’t have a cake business, although we keep telling her she should open one! Her cakes are so pretty, and yummy too!
The flowers came from Blooms By the Box. We have used them for a few events, and have been very pleased with the quality and value. You just need to make sure to really pay attention when they say to give the flowers a few days to open up- we cut it close with this particular event!
This was the beverage station. There was white sangria, strawberry margarita spritzer, and frozen watermelon berry lemonade. I am missing these summer drinks!
We had eclairs, games, and prizes out on the porch. My firefly mason jar also decorated the table (I will have to share how I made that another day!).
My Mom’s Pottery Barn lanterns are so pretty! I wish I had a porch to put them on. I know that I’ve seen similar versions at Lowes and Target. We sat under the lanterns and played some fun and silly shower games, chatted, and opened up gifts. It was a pretty shower and a fun night!
