This New England Apple Crisp is an autumn tradition for us after picking an abundance of apples. If you have recently been apple picking and have a bunch of apples to use us, you can also try my Apple Crostata, Apple Blossom Tarts, and Ravioli with Apples and Walnuts.New England apple crisp served a la mode

Apple Crisp is the signature food for my home state of New Hampshire, so it probably comes as no surprise that it is a fall tradition in our family. Apple crisp is always a favorite for its apple pie-like flavor but with the surprising crunch of the oatmeal topping.

How to serve Apple Crisp?

A la mode is the way to go when serving New England apple crisp! It is the perfect companion to creamy vanilla ice cream. I tend to bake apple crisp in a lodge pan. If you are serving a big crowd and know it will go fast, you can scoop ice cream right on top of the lodge pan.

Another option is to serve with whipped cream. Bonus points if it’s homemade! You can finish off this delectable dessert with the salted caramel sauce that I shared here.

Can you make Gluten-Free Apple Crisp?

Yes! I made a batch for my gluten-free friends recently using almond meal in place of the all-purpose flour. I kept the quantity exactly the same. It was equally delicious.
