  1. Nina,
What a wonderful family story and home for you all! Can totally relate as I grew up in a very small town across the Bay from Seattle, and we still have our family home there too. Feel very lucky to have that experience growing up, and very lucky to have passed it on to my kids too. Enjoy your summer at the lake!

  2. I very much enjoyed the tour of your Camp. There’s nothing else like relaxing by the water in the summertime and listening to loons and crickets in the evening! The fish on the walls add a wonderful, unique part of your family history. I’m sure you are making wonderful memories there!

  3. What a wonderful story, Nina. Upon reviewing the photos the landscape reminds me very much of the cottage country located in the Gatineau Hills (in Quebec Ontario, Canada) that I too had the luxury of enjoying both as a child and a teenager. With wishes that your family traditions continue for many more generations. -Brenda-

  4. I’m happy to have discovered your blog. Last year we sold our 1730’s home in New Hampshire and our summer lake cottage in Maine. This post brought back lots of nice memories of New England summers on the water. I can still hear the call of the loons.

    1. So happy to have you here, Karen! It’s definitely a great place to call home!

  5. What a beautiful place to have in your family – and that sandy beach?!? Wow!! Such a gorgeous outdoor home for the summer!

  6. What a gorgeous spot Nina! I can completely see why you and your family have so many beautiful memories and family time here! Looks like the perfect relaxing getaway :)

  7. I love the tracing fish family tradition. What a special place full of memories that you get to make new ones in with your kids! Would love to see the “superficial” changes in the cabin when you’re finished!

  8. I can’t think of a better way to spend your Summer days. Thanks for sharing the history and family memories. That makes it even that much more special.

  9. Nina this was such a well-crafted post. The pictures– especially the one with the mist rising off the lake– make me literally say out loud, “Oh my gosh!” Seriously girl, it sounds so so dreamy. The history, the family ties, the fish tracings on the walls… and your story of meeting your husband… gosh it reminds me of The Notebook which is basically my favorite movie. You did a beautiful job of writing and capturing the images that embody the feeling of this summer getaway.

  10. SUCH a beautiful place and story Nina! I dream of having a place like this for my children and their future children. That family history is just amazing. Thank you SO much for joining in on the tour and sharing Camp :)

  11. Hi Nina – What a great place to have to get away. Many fond memories are sure to continue there for many years to come. I would be there every weekend :-) Enjoy the summer.

  12. Nina! I LOVE that tour of your camp… What a special place and I love the story of how you met Mack!!!

  13. What a beautiful little piece of paradise you have there!

  14. Ok, soooo – I feel as if I just read the most relaxing lakeside story/book. For real. I’m toootally hooked (pun intended)! The story behind this magnificent Camp and the peacefulness it offers is beyond awesome! I love the way you spend your days at the lake and I can’t wait to read more about your adventures! What a fantastic tour! Thanks soooo much for sharing. I loved this. :)

  15. Just the sweetest, most special blog post I’ve read in a long time. Thank you for sharing this special story. It seems to me that you appreciate the little things and are really making the most of the time with your kids. Everyone told me the days are long, but the years are short. SOOOOO true!!! My oldest child is going off to college this fall, and it happened in a blink of an eye. Memories are the only things that don’t change – and I am grateful for the memories my family made. Best wishes to you for a great summer.

  16. Nina, your Camp is wonderful. I would be there every weekend too! What a special place for your family to unwind and make memories together. We are getting ready to go to the U.P. in Michigan to my BIL and SIL log cabin on the lake. This has me so excited to go! Thanks for the inspiration and for hopping with me today.

  17. What a great place to bring up kids, you are so lucky to have this opportunity to live in such a beautiful setting, I guess you can say we all do in this Home tour series. I love the blue fish you painted on the wood, I have so much wood left over from my home, i loved to do that,
It was a honor to see your home.
