Happy New Year! I So I didn’t get this post up a few days ago as I had hoped, as we have been in website limbo as we moved to our new URL and we also unfortunately kicked off the year with a household stomach bug. I was hoping to share the calendar on the 31st, but you can see we are a few days past that! Rest assured, future months will be released on the first of the month or before from here on out!
And you can now see that we are operating on the new www.ninahendrick.com URL and with a new blog design, so exciting! There’s so much more that goes into a rebrand than I could have possibly imagined, but I think I’m through the worst of it!
Now, today is mostly about a little blog housekeeping to start off the year. First up, I wanted to make sure to share my word of the year:
When I originally sat down to come up with a word of the year, my mind was full of thoughts of “success” “boldness” and “bravery”. What really stood out was that I wanted to go after my goals and make them happen. However, as well as running my business, it’s up to me to keep our home and life in order. There are definitely areas that I need to work on! A lot of the time I feel like our home is a disorganized mess. I gave myself some grace for the past year or so because we did have a baby (exactly a year ago today, in fact! Happy Birthday to our little Miss L!), and that definitely throws things for the best loop possible. However, now that she’s a bit bigger there’s no excuse for me to have things back under control.
My goals for Balance in 2016 are routines, schedules, and realistic organization systems. These were also things that some of you requested help with in the reader survey. While I am no expert, hopefully we can help each other on this journey! Of course, I still want to go after my goals- but I think the best way to do that is to build a solid foundation at home first.
So with that in mind, here are some blog plans for 2016 based on the things I gathered from the reader survey:
– The Great Clean Out: I am going through my home room by room and purging, cleaning, and organizing. It likely won’t be a pretty process, but I will share the results with you along the way!
– Pretty Farmhouse Organization: I’ve always felt like organizing is just so much easier to do when it’s pretty. Although at one point I convinced myself I should like the style, I’ve also always had a difficult time wanting to display the childlike colors and patterns that are associated with females and organizing. I have plans to organize my house in a more neutral style that fits in with the farmhouse/vintage look I love!
– Time Management & Planner: The Everyday Planner is getting a brand new design and will be rolled out June 1st, 2016. I am also working very hard on the 2016 Free Blog Planner, and a paid version with more options!
Room Reveals & Updates:
You made it clear that you love home tours & room reveals! While those things definitely take a lot of work, I do happen to have several spaces very near completion that are due to be revealed. It’s going to be a huge year of reveals here on the blog!
Home Tours will still happen of course, and my goal is to have at least one per season for the year. You asked for video, so stay tuned for accompanying video Home Tours! I’ve always been really intimidated and uncomfortable about the idea of being on camera, but I’m going to give it my best effort!
Small Decor Projects:
While a lot of you loved big DIY Tutorials, even more asked for small DIY Decor projects and crafts. That I can certainly do! We may even have video for those as well.
Free Printables are by far your favorite things. I have plans for many new free printables for 2016, so stay tuned!
Lastly, the vast majority of you shared that you like to follow along via email. The best way to catch every single post is to sign up here, and/or to receive our newsletter (which I’ve resolved to send out weekly this year!) you can click here! Of course, you can always catch me on Instagram, which is my favorite way to connect.
And I think that just about covers it for today- thanks for stopping by! Next week I will be sharing our dining room- a whirlwind renovation we completed with white planks.
