This girl bedroom project is our daughter Lyla’s bedroom and closet makeover. I’m sure I’m a little biased, but it’s just so sweet!
Now, in the interest of full disclosure, this took some serious planning and strategizing to create a space that Lyla would love now and something she could grow into. Because this little lady has very specific ideas about what she wants. And what she wanted was a full-on princess theme.
This girl bedroom features painterly florals with just the right amount of pink. (And no, I didn’t install it myself — wallpaper hanging terrifies me. Happy to leave it to the pros!)
Pink is a tricky color to get right. One shade off and you’ve got a migraine-inducing, Pepto Bismol situation on your hands. But the shade of the paint color is the perfect pink with just enough gray to make it timeless.
Every room needs contrast and some richness to ground the space. We balanced out the light and airy color scheme with bits of gold — from the adorable bow hardware to the bedside table lamps.
I’m a little bit totally jealous of the storage in Lyla’s closet. It’s definitely the best closet in the house. We carried over the little bow drawer pulls and left plenty of hanging storage for her most princessy dresses.
In the end, I think we nailed the sweet, pink, feminine vibe she was hoping for, while also creating a girl bedroom that will grow with her over the years.
