creating a meaningful home

Hello, and welcome to our home! Today I’m sharing a few more Christmas spaces for the All Through the House Tour hosted by my sweet friend Krista of The Happy Housie. Have you seen her Christmas living room? My jaw dropped at the pretty colors and patterns- it’s stunning!

Today I am continuing where I left off yesterday, in our foyer. I hesitate to call this room “complete” because there’s still little stuff to do- but it has come such a long way from its two-toned and cluttered origins.

The rustic coat hooks were a quick little project we did years ago after we ripped out the closets- I bought a (rather ugly) multicolored coat rack on clearance from Homegoods and took the pretty hooks off of it. Then we reattached them to some pallet wood and anchored them to studs. So easy, and we get a ton of compliments on them! Now our Christmas guests have a lovely place to hang their coats.

These snowshoes were an antiquing find. We already had some at Camp that belong to Mack’s dad, but I wanted my own pair for home. I love the grayish patina of these, like they went on many adventures down snowy paths!

Our formerly orange oak stairs are another recent project, currently in progress. We still have trim to paint white and the railings upstairs to stain. I love how the dark stain coordinates with the floor. However, I have to be honest that this was the most challenging project we’ve ever done. For now, I can enjoy this beautiful view before I’m back to sanding and priming!

My driftwood nativity scene has a place of honor in our welcome vignette this year.

I love how the North Star on my Holy Night sharpie sign is above the manger this year.

A quick peek at how the foyer relates to our dining room, which I shared during the Holiday Housewalk.

Then we have the kitchen. I always try to bring livable decor into this room for the season.

My gingerbread house. We decided it would be best if we do two- one that the boys have creative control over, and one that I do. Theirs was covered with two full bags of icing and the candy from both kits.

Fresh pomegranates in a wooden bowl brighten up a corner.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I wish you and yours a happy and merry Christmas season!

Okay, the driftwood nativity is beautiful! Did you make it, buy it, thrift it?

I adore all your driftwood decor and the natural elements! I’m swooning over the driftwood nativity – gorgeous!!!

What a beautiful and serene home you have, Nina! I adore those snowshoes, and the hooks you made for your entryway are genius! Love it all! :)

It’s so refreshing to see your home decorated with woodsy themed objects rather than the “over the top commercialized decorations”. Am especially envious of those antique snowshoes! Love them.

So beautiful, Nina! I’m jealous of all your gorgeous greenery!

Nina, I love your home. It is so inviting, but also looks like a home that is lived in. That is what I love about your home. I can relate very easily! I love all your Christmas decorations! Can’t wait to see what comes after Christmas. Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Out with the old year and in with the new! Here is to 2017!

Nina!! It is beautiful! So fresh and cozy and inviting – I love your whole home and it looks incredible decorated for the holidays!
