Best of 2017

Best of 2017 | These top ten posts were the favorites from the year on Nina Hendrick Design Co.

Happy New Year! Don’t you just love the fresh feeling and promise of a new year? Before I share my plans and goals for 2018, today I’m looking back at the Best of 2017 along with some friends hosted by Cami of Tidbits. These were my top-visited posts of the year. You can check out the other top posts of my blogging friends at the bottom of the page!

10. Our Stay in a 15th Century Irish Castle

Our Stay in a 16th Century Irish Castle | Read about the experience of renting Killahara Castle in Tipperary, Ireland and take a tour.

While 2017 was mainly my “year of Metamorphosis” (I lost 60 pounds and gained a whole lot of confidence during my health journey this year), it also ended up becoming my year of adventure. I visited Texas, Ireland, France, Georgia, and New York City (and conquered my fear of flying along the way). One of the highlights of my adventures was when we rented a 15th century Irish castle on AirBNB. It was seriously cool, and more than a little spooky. While I have been lucky to visit some beautiful parts of the world, Ireland was my favorite place I’ve ever been. It felt like home!

9.  Easter Watercolor Bunny Printable

Nina Hendrick Design Co. | Download this free Easter Watercolor Bunny Printable to help celebrate and decorate for spring.

It was a little nerve-wracking sharing something I painted myself, but it seemed to get a good response! I’m very fond of this little bunny. You can get the free print here or the free printable banner here!

8. Simple Fall Decorating Ideas

Simple Fall Decorating Ideas | This autumn home tour features easy and attainable decorating ideas for bringing simple fall touches into your home.

Simplicity was a big theme for me this year. I have always appreciated the beauty in simplicity and my home tours this year (well, with the exception of Christmas) involved just adding a couple of seasonal touches to each room. This fall tour involved plenty of muted natural accents!

7. Spring Home Tour

Spring Home Tour 2017 | Simple rustic spring home tour with farmhouse touches.

Another example of this pared down decorating style was my spring tour, which involved a few pretty touches here and there. I know that it can be hard to find time to decorate, and these ideas were quick but impactful.

6. Journey to an Organized Life

Journey to An Organized Life: Let's Begin! | Join me for this series as I revamp every single area of my life in an effort to become more organized!

We can all use some organizing in our lives, I’m sure! I’m certainly no exception, and I created this series and free e-course to share what I discover during the ever-present process of becoming better at organizing.

5.  Free Printable Blog Planner

Free Printable Blog Planner | Organize your editorial calendar with these free printable blogging and business pages from Nina Hendrick Design Company!

I have long admired the spirit of community and friendship between bloggers and created this free printable blog planner as a thank you and way to give back.

4. Natural & Neutral Family Room Inspiration

Natural Neutral Family Room Inspiration

You guys seemed to really enjoy my mood board for our family room renovation! I actually stayed truer to this mood board than any other I’ve ever created, and I’m excited to share our completed family room makeover soon (once I finally take the Christmas tree down- yikes!).

3. Simply Summer Home Tour

It always makes me so happy to see this tour in my top 10! This is my annual tour and I love gathering together a group of blogging friends to share summer inspiration. For 2017 I only decorated the mudroom, but I tried to make it count by creating a pretty vignette.

2. Classic Christmas Home Tour

This year (a few weeks ago, really) I returned to a classic and nostalgic Christmas theme and I really loved the results! This tour was one of my all-time favorites.

1. New England Paint Colors

Edgecomb Gray Family Room

Last, but not least, my top post of the year (by a landslide) was when I finally put together a complete guide of all of the paint colors in our New England home. It’s due for an update soon with our newly completed projects, so stay tuned!

Like any year, this one had its ups and downs. Overall, though, it was a year of growth and change for the better. Although I had a lot of moments that felt aimless, as time moves on I can see puzzle pieces coming together slowly to form a clearer picture. There are many exciting things in the works, and as always, this blog has been instrumental in bringing them about. I am so grateful for you, and I look forward to all that 2018 will bring!
